Canada To Let Foreign Students Work Over 20 Hours Off Campus

Canada to let Foreign Students work Off Campus

Canada will permit foreign students to work off campus more than 20 hours a week Sean Fraser, Canada’s minister of immigration, has unveiled a fresh temporary solution to the country’s long-standing labor problems.

According to Fraser, this will enable the nearly 500,000 foreign students already residing in Canada to possibly work longer hours.

International students studying in Canada who have off-campus employment authorization on their study permit are permitted to work more than 20 hours per week off-campus while classes are in session from November 15, 2022 to December 31, 2023.

Foreign nationals who have already applied for a study permit today are likewise subject to this temporary regulation. If their application is accepted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, they will also be allowed to take advantage of this program.

This significant change was introduced this morning in Ottawa, the nation’s capital, by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.

According to Fraser, this policy intends to address the labor shortages that are now occurring across Canada.

Canada is struggling with historically high labor shortages and a historically low unemployment rate. This morning, Statistics Canada announced that the country’s unemployment rate decreased to 5.2% in September from 5.4% in August.

Currently, international students who apply to study in a Canadian educational program are entitled to receive permission to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week while they are enrolled in classes.

During predetermined periods, such as the summer and winter holidays, this cap is lifted. This approach enables foreign students to support themselves financially while also attempting to keep them concentrated on finishing their studies rather than being concentrated on finding employment in Canada.

However, the Canadian government has temporarily relaxed this restriction in response to the almost one million job openings it is currently facing.

Over 500,000 eligible international students who are already in Canada will be able to work extra hours thanks to this policy, according to Fraser.

One of the most popular places for overseas students to study is Canada. Over 620,000 international students attended there in 2021, a number that has tripled in the previous 20 years. In only one year, Canada issued approximately 450,000 new study permits.

Due to a number of factors, including the high standard of educational institutions, multiculturalism, the accessibility of the Canadian dollar, and the availability of employment and permanent residency chances, there is still a high demand to study in Canada.

In the news made today, Fraser also noted that, compared to the 367,000 study permit applications processed over the same period in 2021, Canada has already processed more than 452,000 applications between January and August of 2022. So far this year, Canada has handled more study permits than it did in any previous year, breaking its own record.

According to statistics by the Canadian Bureau for International Education, the majority of foreign students say they plan to become permanent citizens of Canada after completing their studies (CBIE).

Because of things like their Canadian work and study experience, as well as their English and/or French language ability, international students who go on to obtain permanent residence tend to integrate into the Canadian labor market rapidly.

This explains why Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) provides a wide range of initiatives designed to assist foreign graduates find employment in Canada and stay there.

The well-liked Post-Graduation Work Permit is provided by IRCC (PGWP). With the PGWP, qualified international students can obtain an open work permit with a validity period that matches the length of their Canadian academic program. Foreign nationals with open work permits are free to work in Canada for any employer of their choosing.

Three years is the maximum PGWP validity duration. Holders of PGWPs can afterwards acquire the professional Canadian work experience they sometimes require to qualify for an economic class immigration program.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program is one of the most popular immigration routes that IRCC offers, with PGWP holders frequently obtaining permanent residence through it.

Canada’s provinces and territories also recognize foreign graduates who have domestic employment experience.

International graduates have access to pathways to permanent residence through the Quebec and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams across the nation as a method to entice them to stay in the province or territory and continue to make a contribution to the labor market as immigrants.

In recent years, particularly during the epidemic, Canada has looked more and more to international students as a significant source of permanent immigrants. To meet its goal of settling over 405,000 new immigrants in 2021, for instance, and surpass Canada’s record for newly landed immigrants in a year, IRCC heavily relied on graduates from abroad.

In order to accomplish this, IRCC invited and accepted a sizable number of Canadian Experience Class applicants. Additionally, it launched the Temporary Residence to Permanent Residence (TR2PR) program in 2021, allowing about 90,000 temporary residents to submit an immigration application.

Minister Fraser is also required by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to come up with new strategies for temporary foreign workers and international students to use Express Entry to obtain permanent residency. Fraser also presented a plan in September outlining the government’s efforts to assist more temporary residents in obtaining permanent status.

Five pillars make up the approach, one of which is modernizing the immigration system to speed up application processing. When the Canadian government presents its new Immigration Levels Plan 2023–2025 by November 1st, we will learn more about its newcomer strategy.

Getting A Quick Work Permit In The Netherlands

Getting A Quick Work Permit In The Netherlands

Getting a work permit in a foreign country is never an easy affair, and it rings through for the Netherlands, especially for individuals far off from the European Economic Area countries like Switzerland.

Nevertheless, there are some subtle tricks one needs to consider or particularly be aware of to aid in such efforts especially for a newbie looking to migrate to the Netherlands on relocation and work basis.

What is interesting to note for a foreigner relocating into the Netherlands from a country that isn’t within the European Economic Area region is that, a work permit is obviously necessary, and of course, they come in two forms dubbed as the TWV and the GVVA.

Now, the TWV translates as roughly a work permit, but the GVVA translates as both a residential permit as well as a work permit.

For non EEA nationals looking to work in the Netherlands for a period longer than 3 months, it is imperative to apply for the GVVA.

This can only be done if the employer has already issued you the TWV which is the work permit on your behalf. However, the thing about the employment insurance agency issuing a TWV is dependent on the agency meeting some vital criteria.

The criteria entail the employment agency proving there aren’t qualified candidates within the European Union, although some special jobs would not require much strict rulings.

Now, once the TWV is acquired, the employment insurance agency keeps a duplicate and sends the actual document to the hiring firm.

The catch about the work permit in Netherlands is that, highly skilled workers who can add to knowledge based economy of the country stand greater chance at being granted a work permit like it is in most countries.

The conditions following the issuance of work permits in the Netherlands are that:

An employer can only employ someone from outside the EEA unless they cannot find someone suitable from any of the EEA countries like Switzerland or etcetera.

Or that the vacancy has been open for at least 5 weeks to months and such positions are considered very difficult to fill.

The employer must also prove that the company has sought for such candidates from within the Netherlands and the EEA countries without arriving at a suitable candidate.

There are foreigners who wouldn’t encounter much stringent rules while applying for work permits and they include the categories of students who combine studies with a job no more than 16 hours a week, interns, Trainees learning on the job, Artists with higher incomes than the threshold, asylum seekers who work 24 weeks over a 52 week period and religious clerics.

Canada Mobility Options Grants Migrants Visa-Free Green Card

In building Canada’s economy, Canada has crafted an innovative investment schemes through its Mobility Options program that grants citizenship to the country’s innovative investors.

Among affluent nations, the Canadian economy has recovered from the COVID-19 epidemic one of the quickest this year.

Its net debt-to-GDP ratio of 30.5% is the lowest among the G7 nations, and its economy is now 102.6% larger than it was before 2020.

In order to address a major labor shortage, Canada has revealed plans to drastically expand the number of immigrants entering the nation, with a goal of 500,000 arriving each year by 2025.

The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship stated of the scheme saying:

“Last year, we welcomed the most newcomers in a single year in our history. This year’s immigration levels plan will help businesses find the workers they need, set Canada on a path that will contribute to our long-term success, and allow us to make good on key commitments to vulnerable people fleeing violence, war, and persecution,”

In contrast to Canadian passport holders, who have access to 180 countries, including the EU and Schengen countries, the United States, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, and Hong Kong, Nigerian citizens only have visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry to 46 countries.

According to Tukeni Obasi, Vice President, Diaspora of Mobility Options, the Canadian Start-up Visa program is intending to:

“…allow foreign entrepreneurs the opportunity to create an innovative business in Canada and apply for permanent residence.

“With its leading trade market, the program is aimed at providing permanent residence to entrepreneurs, active investors in companies, and expanding businesses that seek to establish a presence in Canada. “

Entrepreneurs from outside Canada must submit a creative, scalable start-up business idea that has been accepted by one of the designated business incubators, angel investors, or venture capitalists in order to be granted permanent residency in Canada.

A letter of support is sent to the client after approval, enabling them and their family to submit an application for permanent residence.

In describing the Canada Mobility options and its merits, Panebi Oboh states that:

“Canadian citizens enjoy a high standard of living with multicultural, easygoing, and vibrant cities. It is an excellent place to do business, with access to the entire North American market. Citizens and Permanent Residents receive affordable, high-quality education, modern medical care, a high level of social standards, and citizen protection.

“The right to reside in the country and obtain Canadian citizenship by investment is allowed for your family members as well. These combined benefits make a second passport very appealing to anyone looking to travel with limited visa requirements and looking to ensure their family’s safety and security.”

According to Mobility Options President Ebi Obaro:

“Mobility is the biggest motivating factor for high-net-worth individuals who seek quick travel processes so they can freely move around for business, holidays, and trade events without filling out laborious visa documents and scheduling appointments at visa offices.”

In order to support economies, governments require revenue from Citizenship through Investment. Businesses need it to expand, as do entire industries. Families require it to locate a home that is safe and secure. Every party involved benefits, therefore everything works out well.
